Reiki Therapy

Wellbeing, balance & clarity

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a very gentle and non-evasive healing technique that originated in Japan in the 1800’s and was developed by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist.

Reiki is a Japanese word pronounced “Ray – Key”  this translates to “universal life energy” and it is based on the belief that this life energy flows through all living things.   When that energy becomes blocked or disrupted, this can then cause distress to the body, mind and spirit. It is now widely  practiced here in the UK and is recognised by the NHS as a beneficial form of complementary medicine.

My Fees

  • Initial consultation & first session £80 (1.5 hours)

  • Follow up session £60 (1 hour)

Reiki works by bringing balance to the main energy centres of the body known as Chakras, so energy once again flows without interruption.  This brings a feeling of calm and relaxation to the patient.  It can often bring clarity to issues currently troubling us and can support positive lifestyle choices.  Reiki can also help heal past hurts and wounds that are preventing us from moving forward and living full and happy lives.

We will start by having a 45 minute consultation, so I get a better understanding of any issues you are currently experiencing.  You’ll then be asked to lie on the couch (fully clothed.)  You are more than welcome to bring your own light covering such as a blanket or throw.  I will begin your healing session with a very gentle and light touch on your head (the crown chakra) moving respectfully down or slightly over your body through the energy centres where I will finish with your feet, encouraging grounding and stability.  During the session I will be playing calming, soft music to aid relaxation, allowing you to have time for yourself to completely switch off and be still.

The affects of Reiki are often quite individual, some experience heat and warmth from the therapists hands, some see colours or slip gently into a meditative state.  Some may even fall asleep. Reiki can often arouse an emotional response which is seen as the beginning of the healing process.  Most commonly however, is a feeling of calm, wellbeing and clarity.

If you have any questions concerning Reiki therapy, please just get in touch. I’d be very happy to hear from you.

I need to cancel my appointment. What should I do?

I ask that you try to give at least 24hrs notice of cancellation, otherwise there is a charge of half the cost of your treatment. For any appointments cancelled outside 24hrs, there is no charge.  Please see my cancellation policy for more details.

Is Reiki right for me?

I quite often say that I didn’t find Reiki, Reiki found me.  If you are reading this and it sounds like something that feels right for you, then I am absolutely sure it will be.  Finding this beautiful life force energy sent me on the path of my spiritual journey where I was able to connect to and find who I really was.  It brought me clarity and an ability to truly love and care for myself.  I am always more than happy to talk to you in a little more detail if you have any questions.

How do you become a Reiki practitioner?

Finding the right “Reiki Master” is imperative, as becoming a reiki student can be quite a journey of self-discovery.  You will initially learn about the history and philosophy of this form of healing.  You will then go through a series of “attunements” that enable you to firstly practice on yourself.  When you are ready, you will then have your second attunement which allows you to practice on others.  Becoming a Reiki Master is the final stage where you can then teach others.  It can take several years to complete all the steps.

What will my first Reiki session be like?

We will spend some time talking about why you have decided to come for reiki therapy.  It helps to fully understand where you feel you are at the moment, and if there are possibly things from your past that are preventing you from moving forward.  We will then begin your session of healing which will last around 30 – 40 minutes.

What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you wish, it will help however, if you are comfortable and warm.  I invite you to bring a light blanket or covering with you as I am currently unable to offer this due to COVID-19 restrictions.

How often should I have Reiki?

Initially I would recommend one session each week for  4-6 weeks.  During this time you will be able to assess how you are feeling and can then begin to space out your healing sessions.

How will I feel after a Reiki session?

How you feel can be completely different after each reiki session.  Sometimes you can feel unusually tired. Other times you can feel uplifted and full of energy.  It is really important to drink lots of water after a treatment and avoid alcohol.
